One way to add cheer to dreary winter days is to put something colorful on the loom. In addition to having wonderful visual and tactile texture, this towel is thick, absorbent, and easy to weave with just one shuttle.
Dimensions: Weave either two or four generous sized towels 13.5" x 25"
Yarns:8/2 Aurora Earth yarn (used double) and a boucle cotton for extra texture.
Weave structure: Even the plain-weave hems have textural appeal! Although this design is woven using stripes in the warp, it could successfully be woven with a single color in the warp and a different strongly contrasting single color in the weft—this will cause the diamond-like pattern to “pop.” Get creative! This is a variation on canvas weave.
Have fun with color and other textured yarns. We substituted cotton chenille with a beautiful boucle yarn. Here’s another bonus: the edges weave neatly with no special effort or need for floating selvedges!
