Finishing Chenille

Hemstitch in groups of 5 yarns if you plan to twist fringe.

Your chenille project may be finished with twisted fringe (see kit instrucions) or with loose fringe. If loose fringe is desired, machine stitch the ends after washing and drying, cut fringes desired length, and remove waste yarn. Loose fringe will be "curly" from drying with waste yarn in place.

Transform your stiff, not-so-soft weaving into a velvety shawl by using care when finishing. Wash on your machine's gentle cycle using a mild detergent (Cot' N Wash is preferred). Check periodically to make sure that it is not becoming twisted. Tumble dry at a very warm setting.

Plan on take-up and shrinkage of 15% in width and 15-20% in length.
