Finishing Towels on Your Rigid Heddle Loom

I absolutely love weaving towels on my rigid heddle loom and that is how the idea of the Year of Towels club started.

Each of the towels in the Year of Towels Kit-of-the-Month Club calls for a hemmed edge which is very easy to accomplish with an iron and sewing machine.

The towels are woven with double strand 8/2 Aurora Earth cotton but you will start and end each towel with single strand 8/2 Aurora Earth so you will be able to have a thinner edge to fold over for the hem.

Remove fabric from the loom and turn under 1/2 inch twice and sew the hems with matching sewing thread.

Itís best to use a steam iron on the hem before sewing to get a nice flat edge. Either hand or machine stitch the hems.

Machine wash in mild detergent and tumble dry on low.
